報載美 Paul Hoffmann 在上海招待記者會上稱：如中國要美援，當有聯合政府云云，洵屬荒謬 。適今日上午有答拜美大使 Loy Henderson 之約， 彼自動談及此事，表示驚異，謂彼幾不能置信 ，欲電詢彼之國務院。又謂美國借款 ， 傳統政策爲不以干涉他國內政作條件，何此次對中國獨異？ Hoffmann 此談話， 不特助中共， 且助印共張目，彼將以此意電國務院 。余婉轉表示贊同。歸館後 以此事電外部。下午接見路透新派來德里代表 McDonald，談甚久，因欲設法轉移其態度。下午六時 赴總督府參觀 Travancore 土王舞隊之歌舞，頗有與中國舊戲相同之點，舞之故事，名 Kathahali. 。
