五月二十八日 星期三 晴，熱。中午十一時五十分至外交部由尼赫魯及其第二妹同往賤民區見甘地，十二時到達，房子 甚小，進門卽脫鞋，且進門卽甘地盤坐之室，無紡紗機在旁，而手邊有許多份報紙，一洗向來所聞之 神秘態度，談笑甚歡，間雜笑話，彼表示願訪中國，詳情另有詳細記錄。 下午中央社記者魏君來，吿以詳情。 七時赴阿爾汗總領事所開之該國國慶招待會，遇眞納，係由尼赫魯介紹，亦人類中之一種諷刺也 。 八時半赴總督府代督 Sir John Colville 之宴，乃爲美代辦 George R. Merrell 及其妹宴行 ，Merrell調阿比西尼亞公使。飯後與尼赫魯談甘地訪華事，此事於印局定後再談，我說甘地並不 Mystical But Practical，彼之囘答爲“Very Practical”.。 上午在甘地消息外間知道前，卽行約眞納會見日期，定三十日下午六時半。
